Baby's Room

My mom spent Wednesday and Thursday painting the ceiling and below the chair rail. Here's the before and the current state of things. As I type Andy and her are upstairs putting on the coat of paint above the chair rail. My contribution was to tape things off. The paint colors in case anyone's curious are: Ceiling; Benjamin Moore "Sleeping Angel" (ironic i know, but i swear i didn't choose it because of that). Below chair rail; Pratt & Lambert "Heather Dusk", and Above Chair Rail; C2 "Cricket White".

Organizing

Thanks to Einee for finding a total score of baby clothes and to Papa for shipping them! My mom and I got some tubs and spent the evening with Andy folding and organizing by size. Bring on the spit up and the poop because we've got a stockpile of clean clothes!

Kitchen Update

Awhile ago we painted a spot in the kitchen with chalkboard paint. After looking at it, we both decided it should carry over towards the window and then we thought, "hey, screw it, let's paint that whole wall with it." So we did. And I really like it. Obviously we won't be using the whole thing as a chalkboard, but the black looks really great behind the artwork we have framed, and with the white trim around the window. We plan on eventually painting the cabinets and adding hardware, so when you look at the horrid color of them, imagine them a different (not oak-ish) color. Most likely white. I am also thinking about doing the whole side of that kitchen with that black chalkboard paint, and removing the upper cabinets on the side that the sink/ refrigerator is on, and doing open shelving. I think with our white dishes and bowls/serving plates that the contrast would be great. And of course some crown molding now that we can do it! We could hide all the ugly stuff on the bottom or other side of the kitchen (also shown here). I can't wait for the yellow/peachy colors to be gone! Who on earth combines a beige/pink laminate counter-top with yellow paint and light colored wood? But with all the crazy colors we inherited in this house it wasn't the worst.
